Research Title
MAJESTIC ORGANIC FERTILIZER (M.O.F)
Research Abstract
Majestic Organic Fertilizer (MOF) an environmentally friendly and cost-effective organic fertilizer made from household waste materials. The purpose of this project is to develop an environmentally friendly and cost-effective organic fertilizer made from household waste materials. This innovation aims to address the increasing issue of solid waste generation in Malaysia, which has reached approximately 39,000 tonnes per day in 2025. By converting organic waste into a useful agricultural product, this project promotes sustainable waste management practices while reducing dependency on chemical fertilizers. The project also seeks to encourage households to adopt the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) concept in daily life. If household organic waste materials are properly processed and combined using a simple drying technique, they can be transformed into an effective organic fertilizer that enriches soil, supports plant growth, reduces landfill waste, and serves as a safe alternative to chemical fertilizers. Majestic Organic Fertilizer (M.O.F) was produced using easily accessible household waste materials such as eggshells, fruit peels, onion skins, dry leaves, pandan leaves, and recycled egg trays. First, the egg tray was soaked in hot water to soften its texture. All organic materials were then blended together with a small amount of water to create a uniform mixture. The blended mixture was strained to remove excess water. Tapioca flour was added as a natural binding agent and mild weed-control component to form a consistent paste. The paste was shaped into cube-like forms and dried under sunlight until hardened. The final product was applied directly to soil around plants to observe decomposition and plant response. Observations showed that the fertilizer cubes decomposed naturally when placed in soil and gradually released nutrients. Plants treated with M.O.F demonstrated healthy leaf colour, improved growth, and better soil texture compared to untreated plants. The product emitted a mild natural scent and did not produce harmful side effects. Additionally, the production cost was minimal as all primary materials were household waste, demonstrating economic feasibility and scalability for domestic and small-scale commercial use. The findings support the hypothesis that household organic waste can be effectively converted into a safe and beneficial organic fertilizer. Majestic Organic Fertilizer (M.O.F) provides a sustainable solution to reduce waste, improve soil fertility, and lower household expenses on commercial fertilizers. This innovation demonstrates strong potential for commercialization and community adoption while contributing to environmental protection and circular economy practices. M.O.F proves that simple, low-cost technology can create significant environmental and agricultural impact.
