Research Title
SusSearcher
Research Abstract
"SusSearcher is an AI-powered sustainability assistant developed for the Global Sustainability Innovation Competition (GSIC). It helps consumers identify environmentally responsible ways to dispose of, recycle, or reuse everyday items, including broken or unnamed objects. Many people want to reduce waste but lack clear guidance — SusSearcher provides instant, practical recommendations through image recognition and AI-generated advice. Users simply upload a photo of an item and ask a question. The system analyzes the image and returns tailored sustainability suggestions, encouraging proper recycling, material recovery, and creative reuse. By reducing landfill waste and promoting resource conservation, SusSearcher contributes to lowering carbon footprints. The application is built with Next.js, deployed on Vercel, and powered by Google’s Gemini Flash model for image analysis and idea generation."
