AN APPARATUS FOR TREATING EMULSION (FWF- EM)
Research Abstract
An Apparatus for Treating Emulsion (FWF-EM) is an oil and food waste trap filter to minimize the environmental problem which is water pollution and to create awareness among food handler about the importance of preserving the environment. A similar project had been carried out by other companies and there is difference on the design in this apparatus. Filters are built by incorporating effective microorganisms that can solve the problem of oil waste and food waste. The objective of this project is to reduce food waste elimination into the drains. Next, the second objective is to educate people how to manage food waste correctly and treating water by using EM. This project can also help to minimize environmental problems such as water pollution. Besides, it proposed to recycle food waste into fertilizers. The goal statement of this project is to increase healthy living among the society. Method that has use are PDCA concept and Ishikawa Diagram. FWF-EM is built by incorporating effective microorganisms to solve the problem of food and oil waste. Nevertheless, in this project, an obvious difference is shown on the design and materials used for the project. It is a lightweight, extremely strong, and robust material. Its bulk strength and weight properties are also very favorable when compared to metals, and it can be easily formed using molding processes. Filters are built by incorporating the biological reaction using effective microorganisms also known as EM that can solve the problem of oil waste and food waste. EM decomposes food waste into fertilizer and breakdown the oil. Researchers have designed a square tank with a cover that has several important components. This filter basket that traps food waste serves as a solid buffer wall to separate water retention and it traps the fats and releases clear water. The pipe brings in food waste and clear water is released. This filter has been tested with BOD test and pH test. Before the installation of the FWF- EM, there were a lot of food wastes in the drains. In addition, the effluent from the basin was also dirty and oily. After the installation of FWF-EM, the food waste was accumulated in the filter basket properly, while the oil particle was on the surface of water on the bottom. At the same time, the condition of the drain before and after the application of FWF-EM was also observed. Before the application of FWF-EM, the drain is dirty and was full with algae. After the application of FWF-EM, the drain is free of algae and miscellaneous revenues., the level of water pollution will also decrease. The benefits of this project are to eliminate raw food waste at the drainage, help to minimize the pollution, help to save the aquatic lives and help to create awareness among people about healthy environment. In conclusion, an apparatus for treating emulsion, FWF-EM is a simple food waste filter which have been developed with multi-function by using EM method. By employing FWF-EM, the most serious problems such as water pollution, destruction of aquatic ecosystem and quality of drinking water will solve.
